Thank You Volunteers
A huge "Thank You!" from Mark and Nick - to all Manitou Springs flood cleanup Volunteers! You are all Amazing!
In the days and weeks after the disastrous August 9, 2013 flash flood, a mobilized and selflessly motivated force of hundreds of volunteers from the Manitou Springs community, Colorado Springs and the surrounding region worked tirelessly to clear debris left by the devastating floodwaters. Cleanup has been massive, but the town is recovering and really looking great considering what occurred only a few weeks ago.
Many of our neighboring shops have suffered a substantial loss of property. The YoYoLoco store was fortunate to have no flooding in the main level, no inventory damaged, although our store was closed for 11 days while mud and debris was cleared from our basement. The downstairs cleanup was colossal effort by over 100 volunteers, headed and overseen till completion by Manitou Springs resident and volunteer Jon Matas, and including people from Manitou, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Fort Carson, Manitou HS Soccer, and numerous church and youth groups.
We would still be digging out without your assistance. Also, special mention to Kasey Ocheltree of K S Kleaning Services, who donated her time and help to get the YoYoLoco store main floor put back together and ready to open.
Truly heartwarming the effort from everyone, most of whom I had never met before.
Thank you all so much!
